The Store House unanimously backed by Leeds Councillors

Today at Leeds City Council Planning Committee, The Store House was unanimously backed by Councillors. The Store House, 140-142 Briggate, Leeds, is the former House of Fraser store, which will be redeveloped into our Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) scheme.

Brought to you by Manner, The Store House represents a new vision for the future of student living. The design has been carefully crafted and this was reflected in comments at the Leeds City Council planning Committee last week:

“There’s a lot to commend for the design. The detail is good, the stepping back is good, the materialogy is good. This is a fair better replacement for what is currently there. The approach to climate, energy and BREEAM is good, that’s what we want to see.”

“A remarkable building that will improve the area, I welcome this new design, it is well detailed and it blends in really nicely with the listed building to the side of it. ”

“High praise to the developers and in particular to the architects. ”

To hear our scheme being talked about as architectural design in the highest standards gives us great pride and satisfaction.

The design includes 369 en-suite bed spaces made up of 238 3-8 bed clusters and 131 studios. In addition there will be 3,099sqm of flexible-use retail floorspace at ground (1,523sqm) and basement (1,576sqm) as well as 527sqm of thoughtfully designed and highly specified amenity spaces accommodating a variety of uses including: co-working & study space, wellness suite, lounge and recreation areas, screening room and private dining with roof terrace.

The project is due to start on site early 2023, subject to being given the green light and will be delivered in a single phase in time for the 2025-26 academic year.
